global engagement programme 2019

Leading in an Evolving Policy Environment & Developing as a
Globally Engaged Leader

The Australian Experience – Melbourne & Canberra, 17 - 22 February, 2019. Our experience provides an opportunity for you to ‘step back’ from operational matters and explore global issues in higher education as seen through the lens of another higher education system and through discussions and debate with peers from different countries.

The increasingly globalised higher education system needs leaders who understand a breadth of possible futures and how to engage directly with politics and policy-making. With a programme that covers universities of all kinds, agencies, government and third parties, we are offering a leadership experience which will develop those skills through experience. Building on the very popular Ranmore Global Engagement programmes over the past four years, we are now offering an immersive leadership experience in one of the most dynamic higher education systems in the world. Meet with key influencers, opinion formers, policy makers and senior leaders to understand their approaches, and use structured reflection to understand how to enhance your own practice. Working as a group, the programme will develop networks as well as individual capability.

The agenda combines visits to a diverse range of institutions and discussions with fellow leaders guided by two experienced programme leaders with extensive knowledge of leadership development and international higher education. Whether you are a regular visitor to Australia and already have strong research or teaching links or you are seeking a means of understanding current higher education trends in Australia, you will gain much from the programme.

The event is also being planned in partnership with the LH Martin Institute at the University of Melbourne. A copy of the draft programme and how to register your interest re.can be found here.

Further details about the logistical aspects of the programme can be provided by contacting Corinne Waring at cwaring@ranmore.co.uk

”The Global Engagement Programme I was part of in 2018 opened my eyes to the diversity and complexity of Australian higher education. There’s so much that the UK’s university leaders can learn from Australia, and with so much exchange of policies and personnel it pays to keep abreast of what’s going on down under. And the cohort is a great way to see things from a range of angles, allowing everyone to interrogate what’s happening and to interpret it for our own contexts.”
